- cooking fresh, real food
- living life as naturally as possible in a chemically-laden, processed world
- growing food and raising animals
- creativity through graphic design, sewing and up-cycling
- and a new-found passion for homeschooling
I love fresh clean sheets, I rarely follow a recipe exactly, I'd rather be barefoot outside than walking in heels any day, I love color....lots of color, I'm a little bit of a rebel, I love to cook and only tolerate baking, I love scoring a great deal on sale or at a thrift store, and I'm living my dream of being a wife and mom. I'm a big picture person and don't worry too much about the details. Some days I'm a bit of a mess, but I live each day with an enormous amount of God's grace. I'd love for you to join me as I follow my passions and grow in grace. You can read a little more about my heart in starting a blog here...
This is Austin, my love of almost 10 years. He is pretty much my polar opposite when it comes to personality, but God couldn't have matched us more perfectly. He has only one speed - wide open - and I'm always trying to keep up as he spins around the house working in the garden and with the animals, building some new project, or coming up with his next brilliant idea for our homestead or a business. Seriously, this man can do anything from replacing plumbing to building a beautiful farm table from scratch, and I am so blessed to do life with him.
Cora is our first born and is 5. She has a passion for animals, people and all things princess. She has definitely got the creative gene and I'm always tripping over her newest art project or listening to her latest idea for an invention. She is a natural born leader and loves to learn. I've been so blessed to be able to stay home since she was born and we recently started homeschooling together for Kindergarten. We are both thoroughly enjoying it so far, and I love watching her grow into the unique person God has made her to be.
God broke the mold when he made our sweet Eden. She is a ball of spunk, mischief, and sweetness all rolled into one active 3 year old. She is often found squeezing the life out of one of our animals with a great big bear hug. Eden is rarely without a smile on her face or a giggle on her lips. She is our little free spirit and teaches me daily to let go of my worries and concerns and to just drink LIFE in.
We have two Nigerian Dwarf goats, Eve and Rosetta. They joined our family in January of 2014 and we hope to breed them soon, both for their kids and milk. Rosetta (the black one) has a quiet and calm personality until you throw a chicken in the pen or the two goats start playing, then she runs around head butting anyone within arms reach. Eve is very affectionate, and often comes up to nuzzle your arm....right before she starts to eat your clothes, jewelry or anything she can get her lips on.
We also have 13 hens and 1 rooster. Mo runs the flock and tends carefully to all his ladies. We started with 10 chickens in spring of 2013, and hatched 9 chicks in spring of 2014. We have given away a few roosters since then and lost one hen to an accident. We have a big variety of birds -Wyandotte Silver, Buff & Golden Laced, Buff Orpington, Black Australorp, Speckled Sussex, Black Star Sex Link, Barred Plymouth Rock plus several mixed breeds.
